No problem, I don't view your comments as condescending. But, I'll maintain the accuracy of my previous post.
<<how can you be so staunch about your perception of a non public company...>>
Hmm . . . I don't quite understand this statement. What perception are you referring to? I admire what they've accomplished in a short period of time and I'm intrigued if their method of selling represents a new distribution concept in the pc field, but other than that, I don't quite understand the statement.
I doubt that the eMachine discussion has much of an impact on Dell converts. But I can assure you that amongst some of my colleagues, the success that the company has apparently achieved is not going unnoticed and questions are being circulated as to what it might mean for DELL, CPQ and GTW.
Whether you care about that or not, I don't know. However, based upon some of the PM I have been receiving from people who apparently are lurking on this thread, there is interest in this development.
And there will continue to be interest in the investment community because there will remain the perception that DELL will have to react to the pricing issue in the sub-$1,000 area at some point in time to achieve their stated goal of owning a 40% market share in the pc business. The articles will continue to be written, analysts will continue to opine on the matter and the market will continue to digest the information and decide whether it is of importance or not.
No, I don't have a position in Dell, long or short at the present time. |
