My name is Glenn Sullivan, the Sequent Fiber Channel Product Marketing Manager. I
was made aware that I have been misquoted as attacking SUN and would like to
provide the following correction.

Re: the quote of "Sequent's Fibre Channel product manager, Glenn Sullivan,". In the
attributed quote there are only four words that are correct; "because they compete
against". The rest of the quote has never been stated.

What I have said is this:

Getting to manageable multi-vendor heterogeneous SANS will require an
unprecedented level of cooperation between all companies participating in a SAN in
order to manage revision control in the SAN. Any HW/FW/SW changes to any element
in a heterogeneous SAN will require review and approval by all other companies with
products in the SAN.

I discussed how cooperation may be easier for other systems companies who have
chosen to partner with the same disk, tape and Fibre Channel vendors. My comment on
Sun has been; "That SUN is not only a system company but is aggressively competing
with storage vendors for the storage business. This could make it more difficult for SUN
to cooperate because they compete against both the system and storage vendors in a
heterogeneous SAN."

My above statement is regarding the successful management of revision control and has
nothing to do with standards.

My position regarding SUN and standards is that SUN is an active member of FCA
and SNIA and is participating in the proposals and development of open industry
standards. This is something that Sequent is encouraging all companies with Fibre
Channel products to do.
