I happen to own an old French 18th century still life oil painting. Unfortunately it is by an unknown artist (as no doubt is its 'value').

However it does show what kind of fruit they were eating around that time. A half peeled orange showed that much was white pith. The grapes were long and cylindrical and distinctly unappetizing.

There was also an apple which I certainly would not pick up in a store.

The fact is that consumers over the centuries prefer GM food!
