Jules, IBM's mainframe business is suffering price attrition from the other PCMs (Hitachi and Amdahl) not from Wintel. Wintel has not done anything to prove to a CIO that it can replace a mainframe. You well know the arguments surrounding the Specified Operating Environment which is the total platform of hardware, software and microcode. Wintel does not have the capability to replace a mainframe SOE.
