Mitch, another recent EETimes article might be of interest in light of the recent discussions on this thread about the WindowsCE threat to WIND. Using "Willow Software" for a search term should return an article entitled "New markets could be opened in the embedded realm -- Windows software edges toward real-time apps". This expands upon WIND's recent press release about teaming with Willow to serve the Win32 API. It seems to me that the ability to use Windows code without being tied into the X86 chips is going to be very attractive to users.

While I am at it let me suggest one more EETimes article. Use the search term "reliability and Fiddler". This should return just one reference "Embedded's top priority:reliability". The growing importance of reliability is perhaps one of the biger obstacles that Microsoft has to extending its hegemony to the embedded world. The constant reminder on our desktop of the non-robustness of the MS Windows operating system is not a great advertisement to real-time programers.

Regards, Michael
