You sound very naive and techno-centric.

I suppose everyone who buys a computer and/or connects themselves to the Internet is now required to understand what a macro is and how a macro interpreter works.

Of course the normal users doesn't know what to turn on and/or off! That's the whole point of pre-configured machines, plug and play, etc.. Since you are fond of analogies, how's this one. Do you have to be a mechanic to drive a car?
