OT: This is how it works: I'm asked to write on PSFT because I'm a value guy, a contrarian; MSN gets me from my web site, ValueStocks.net . They've asked me to write about down and out stocks before, some 14 or so. I see PSFT, think, wow, this is interesting. The stock was then around 21. I accept the assignment and think, let's see where it goes. My initial bias (because I'm contrarian) is bullish. I interview analysts, ERP consultants, talk to the company, pour over their proxies and SEC filings and industry reports, and come to some idea of what's going on, then I write a story. The story is not for your newspaper, but rather an online stock site with a view, much like Street.com or Motley Fool or Online Investor or what have you. I present what I've learned. No intent to bash, no intent to praise. Just an analysis of what's going on. Turns out it isn't so friendly if you're a bull on PSFT. Well, with every story I write there's some happy people and some unhappy people depending on their position in the stock.
Still I figure at least I started out as unbiased as one can be. I had no reason to bash it, and knew of no one personally with a position in it. Since the story, I've been an active participant here because heck, I figure the board can use the view of someone who at least has thought about it. Maybe I've made a good point or two on occassion, maybe not. But I'm still less biased than most people who contribute to these boards because I simply don't have a position.
I'm a doctor. This is my hobby. My career doesn't ride on me being right on this either. I just like the challenge of analyzing difficult situations.
