Dear Joe,
I joined SA around mid-January '99 thru
reading your name on some message boards.
After the first month, I was ready to quit
but am I glad now that I didn't! Initially I
was lazy, did not read all your emails, was
frustrated by some of your cryptic messages
and felt that your group was very clicqish
(sp). I was a losing investor then making all
the mistakes any uneducated investor could
make. I thought by joining, I could get
everything spoonfed to me.
But then one day in late Feb, I joined in
the irc. It opened my eyes just from
"listening". To date I have probably said
about 5 words total during market hours
there. I soon resolved to be a better
investor. I ordered the books from your
website and read every chance I got. I got
up at 6am to be in time for the opening bell
and stayed until the market closed. I
followed your picks and some of your
strategies. I quickly became smarter. During
the month of March I have recouped all my
loses from 1998 AND 1997 (some 60K). Year to
date I am up a satisfactory amount.
I want to take the time to thank you for
sharing your expertise. For those who join I
hope they don't give up easy and actually do
some homework and put time in. Don't expect
everything handed to you and use your own
head sometimes. I plan to remain lurking most
of the time and just finding my own pace.
