Well I have heard about lands for life for for about 2 years now and it is nothing new. Whether they are Liberal, conservative or NDP or communist for that matter they have one thing in common. (Besides being laywerati) They see mining as the enemy and they want it to fade. If there is to be mining they envision it as the Falconbridges of big science and money who can carry out the Master of BS study on the threatened area and implement the proper monetary technologies to mitigate the damage that lesser companies could not do. So Falco can "back in" to these areas anyway after all the prospectors have left. I see that as the plan. Men of vision no doubt. No wonder Tim Bell hung himself. I can see the smirks on the planners faces when they heard that. "It's the start", no doubt they said. "Pretty soon we will be rid of these sons of Santa Barbara." Indeed.

Well mining may not be rocket science but Land use planning take some men of wisdom. What the politicos don't want you to know is that 99.99% of smelter emissions and 99.999% of all water ions can be recovered and made harmless with today's technology. Some of this stuff is not one year old. Some, sadly, is 40 years old. So it would be possible to mine in Stanley Park and drink the tailings water of any mine in a few years and feed deer and moose out the back of the mine bunkhouse. We are talking scientific reality here, not sales talk. But you cannot feed the Politician what he wants. A house in the Red River Valley amongst his choice of friends, with shares on the mantlepiece of mines in Brazil, his garbage in former mining communities, and his son on the board of Corel-Sun Graphics and Hollywood Dreamscapes while smoking Cuban cigars hand rolled by new Canadians who live in low income housing. Order of Canacrap here we come.
