>>>I'm unclear on the exact details of how this works, though. There was an agreement with Visa announced some time ago.

CheckFree is working to get "good funds" in two ways. One it the Visa letter of intent, which is moving forward but will take some time. The Visa agreement will allow real time Good funds.

The other is Genesis (a capability built into Genesis) to allow "Good Funds" from the Banks. This capability requires an additional feed from the banks, but it is very similar to an ACH feed. Some banks are already up and running on this "good funds" functionality (i.e. Wells, NationsBank), and most if not all should be up and running in the next 12 months. Although, this model is not "real time", but because of the 4 day lead time in payments, the effect is the same.
