I am becoming more impressed with what Printrak is accomplishing in the AFIS arena. They have recently developed an unattended machine offering 24 hour service without requiring an officer to assist in the final match. They also recently demonstrated the world's largest AFIS, designed for the Argentina contract. I believe that each of these systems are PC based. For a little guy they are sure winning their share of contracts from the big guys.

Regarding Tennesse

"As part of the new technology initiative, the state will administer federal grants to local agencies to cover a portion of the cost of livescan fingerprint capture equipment through their independent procurement processes.

Three livescan vendors, including Printrak, have been specified by the TBI as meeting state and FBI National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) standards for electronic fingerprint submissions. The Printrak NIST server being procured by the TBI processes tenprint submissions from any vendor's livescan unit that is compliant with NIST standards."

The livescans are to be purchased locally using federal grants. It appears that Identix and most likely DBII livescans were approved for local purchase so this story may actually bring about sales for IDX.
