It's Moneypenny. She's been all over the globe, not just down under.

Speaking of going global, did you see this?

<<<SHENZHEN, China, Feb. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Instruments (NYSE: TXN) (TI) and Huawei Technology Co., Ltd. today signed a memorandum of understanding in Shenzhen for establishing a digital signal processing solutions (DSPS) cooperative laboratory at Huawei's facility. The MOU was signed by Dr. Kun-Shan Lin, Vice President, Semiconductor, TI Asia, and Mr. Li Yi Nan, Vice President of Huawei Technology Co., Ltd.

The lab will be run by Huawei to develop world class telecommunication products such as PBX switching equipment, wireless local loop systems and base stations using TI DSP technology. In addition, Huawei will use the lab to train its engineers to use the latest TI DSPS technology. TI is responsible for equipping the lab with advanced digital signal processing development tools and providing technical support.

DSPS technology is the key in driving the digital revolution going on all around us. The importance of DSPS is well recognized by Huawei and therefore, the company has chosen to work with the world leader in DSPS technology, Texas Instruments. Active engagement between the two companies started in 1994 when Huawei used the C5x DSP device for its PBX switching equipment. Today's agreement signing marks a major milestone in furthering this relationship.

"TI has given Huawei both efficient and effective technical support," said Huawei's Li. "Our partnership over the past years has proven to be of great value and prospect."

In operation since 1988 and headquartered in Shezhen, Huawei has become China's leading telecommunication equipment manufacturer in less than ten years. The company employs over 3000 people today. In 1996, the company generated sales of US$290 million and has 35 offices across the country.

Being an ISO9001 manufacturer, Huawei is known for its technical strength and product quality. "We see Huawei as the company with the R&D to capture the high-growth telecom business opportunities in China. Our cooperation truly creates a win-win situation for TI and Huawei," said Dr. Kun.

An industry pioneer and the worldwide leader in digital signal processing solutions, Texas Instruments celebrates the 15th anniversary of its first DSP in 1997. TI provides innovative DSP solutions to more than 20,000 customers worldwide in the computer, communications, consumer, automotive, military and industrial markets. TI was recognized by IEEE for technical excellence in the design and application of DSPs by receiving the 1996 IEEE Corporate Innovation Recognition Award.
