Now I recon anyyone who lists rocks and minerals as a hobby cannt be all bad.
We also have a weather alert, It went down to minus 18 last night and the high today is minus six, so we are back into winter and the road is still in operation (without some of its relay camps). After the thaw and melt its a bit of a bumpy ride in spots but still see trucks heading out.
Caribou carnival was a great success and wed night is division night when the territories (now 1/3) of canada splits in two with Nunavut to the east and the new NWT to the west. Each area will now be aproximately 1/6 of Canada with a population of 25,000 in Nunavut and 40,000 in the NWT.
The NWT with Ekati produces about 10%of the worlds diamonds and I have heard estimates that in time the NWT could be producing close to 40% of the worlds diamonds.
Two very historic events for Canada the Diamonds and Division yet I wonder how many Canadians really know what is going on up here in the land of the midnight sun.
