Over the last 5 years I have had probably three VCRs go bad on me. I am relatively sure that each time the problem was related to the tape mechanism. I have never had them fixed since the cost of replacing was only slightly above the cost of repairing. During this time period, I have never experienced a hard-drive failure of any kind. Have I been lucky?

My experiences with these two devices makes me a prime candidate for purchase of the new VCRs containing disk drives. Will anyone else be queuing up to get one?
