Micron Electronics, Inc., (Nasdaq:MUEI), a leading direct vendor of personal computer systems, today announced that it has been selected as the official hardware supplier of the Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) Online (http://msdn.microsoft.com). MSDN Online, a merger of the Site Builder Network and MSDN Online web sites, provides a comprehensive resource for all developers, offering more than 2 million developers worldwide free access to the most comprehensive development information available from Microsoft.

To support the launch, Microsoft and Micron have teamed up to make an exclusive offer to developers under which they may purchase a limited edition 500MHz Millennia MAX desktop computers, featuring the new Intel Pentium III processor, for a low price of $2,000. The offer is available to the first 2000 MSDN Online members who order it online via the special MSDN website.

The Millennia Max system offered to developers is regularly priced at $2,699. The Millennia line is Micron's flagship line of desktop computers aimed at people who tend to frequent the Internet and use applications that are rich in graphics, sound and video. Millennia desktop computers are available with a range of processors, including the Intel Pentium III 500 MHz processor, and other high-performance components that rank it at the top of performance charts for PCs.

In addition to the hardware, developers who purchase the limited edition Millennia MAX system will receive a $500 discount on the Microsoft's MSDN Universal, a key set of developer tools, normally priced at $2000. Taken together, a developer that takes advantage of the offer can save up to $1200 on a new development system.

Each MSDN Online member may purchase one limited edition Millennia MAX system at the special price. Systems can be ordered via the special MSDN web site with a credit card. No purchase orders will be accepted. The limited edition MSDN system can be customized with additional features for additional cost.

Other Micron 'Beyond the Box' Features

Purchasers of a Micron Millennia desktop system also receive the benefits of Micron's exclusive technology-enhancing programs and services, which are not available from any other vendor. Every customer who purchases a new Micron system receives a free, one-year enrollment in Micron University, an online training resource that can help customers make the most of their computer investment.
