Pinewood Resources: Testing of Kimberlite Targets Commenced VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 29, 1999--Pinewood (VSE:PNW.), the diamond drill mobilized by Pinewood Resources Ltd., has commenced testing the kimberlite targets detected by the low level airborne survey completed by Geotemex Dighem at the company's Afridi Lake property. Ground geophysics to pinpoint the eleven targets, identified by the airborne survey, is ongoing.
The company has established its camp within the Intertech/Kennecott camp and access to the property is facilitated by the winter road, constructed by Kennecott, which crosses the southern end of Pinewood's Afridi Lake claims.
The 12,900 acre property covers the majority of Afridi Lake. It is located in the Lac de Gras area, some 300 km northeast of Yellowknife, NWT, 80 km southeast of the Ekati Diamond mine, and 45 km southeast of the Diavik mine. Held 75 percent by Pinewood and 25 percent by Central Minera Corp., the project is adjacent to the west, south and east to the Kennecott/Intertech joint venture.
In 1996 a diamondiferous dyke was discovered approximately 1 km to the west of the property boundary, and more recently, a kimberlite was intersected by drilling, approximately 5 km west of the property. Pinewood and Central Minera have committed a total of $450,000 for this drilling program.
