Aitch: straight up with four or five blocks of ice.

Straight up is without ice (or anything else) in a flat-bottomed straight-sided glass - did a bit of bartending in my younger days. <ggg>

I prefer to use ice made out of natural spring water because I don't like the municipality water. The smell is as much part of the taste as the liquid itself.

If you ever find yourself at the mercy of municipal water, fill a pitcher and let it stand for about 45 minutes - removes a lot of stuff, but mainly chlorine.

Don't know if you offended rudedog, but you sure made me cringe when you mentioned "chilled red wine." I suppose you can drink Beaujolais Nouveau on the cooler side, but that's it! <gggg>

Enjoy your dinner!
