Here's a very interesting article by Robert X. Cringley about Novell and IP telephony. It speculates that Schmidt is looking to reinvent Novell as a media/communications server company rather than fight it out with Unix/Linux/NT in the applications server market. This is a VERY lucrative market and with Novell's reputation for OS reliability, it becomes very attractive for companies wanting a "set it and forget it" IP telephony solution. pbs.org
