HEFNER CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER OF CHRONICLE COMMUNICATIONS, INC. DAN HEFNER
WILL LEAVE HIS POSITION AND RESIGN AS CEO OF FLORIDA EQUIPMENT & SERVICE, INC.
TO TAKE THE POSITION AT
CHRONICLE.
"Dan Hefner has been extremely instrumental in the negotiations that
resulted in the Bright Now, Inc. and Florida Machine and Welding, Inc.
acquisitions. Dan's skills as a negotiator, coupled with his personnel skills
and high degree of integrity, make him an incredible choice to steer the daily
operations of Chronicle's growing and diverse ship. We are fortunate that Dan
has decided to take the position as chief operating
officer at Chronicle," Whitman stated.
Mr. Hefner attended Utica College of Syracuse University, studying Public
Relations/Mass Communications. While attending college, Mr. Hefner developed
much of his negotiating skills as a union steward involved in labor
negotiations. From 1972 to 1981, Mr. Hefner was employed
by Rollins, Inc. During his employment at Rollins, Mr. Hefner's achievements
included Rollins' National Salesman of the Year Award and appointment to one of
only four District Manager positions in the building services division. Mr.
Hefner's
southeastern district consistently exceeded the company's national profit
margin. The building services industry experiences 300% annual turnover; Mr.
Hefner's district had 0% turnover in management and supervision the 14 months
prior to his departure. From 1981 to 1990, Mr. Hefner co-founded and operated
Essential Services, Inc. This commercial services company expanded into 8
States and grossed 2.5 Million annually. From 1990 to Present, Mr. Hefner has
enjoyed a successful Real Estate and Business Consulting Business. Drawing on
his negotiating skills, Mr. Hefner chose to work with companies in need of
re-negotiating debt, acquiring new facilities for expansion or reorganizing
internal personnel. In 1994, Mr. Hefner began working with the principles of
Bright Now, Inc. During his tenure, Bright Now restructured its debt, which
allowed it to relocate to larger facilities and expand capacity four-fold. In
1998 Mr. Hefner was instrumental in the sale of Bright Now, Inc. to Chronicle
Communications, Inc. Mr. Hefner is currently the Chief Executive Officer at
Florida Equipment & Service, Inc. in Bartow, Fl. FES is engaged in the Heavy
Construction Equipment Repair and Refurbishing, Sales and Service business and

Chronicle's auditors, Pender Newkirk & Company of Tampa, Florida, have been
retained again this year to prepare the audit for the year ending September 1998
which will enable Chronicle to file the annual report on form 10K and to review
audits previously performed by others, if any, on all proposed acquisitions. "I
have always been pleased with the level of service Chronicle has received from
Pender Newkirk & Company. Now that our
corporate offices are minutes apart, I expect greater efficiencies to result in
an even more favorable working relationship," Whitman stated.
