As I said before (IMHO) MSFT is not the one SUNW is really
competing with and really Sun does not (and should not) care about
MSFT. It is HP, DEC and IBM that Sun is really competing with. If
anything MSFT will be the tool for Sun's further growth! Just see the
latest news as how MSFT is complaining that JDK 1.1 just released
does not support MSFT's VM and Sun has acted against the
contract they have had with Microsoft, and that MSFT now may sue
Sun! But Sun does not care! The fact that MSFT is complaining
shows that Sun has MSFT by its finger and MSFT will be dancing to
whatever Sun says. MSFT may complain and whine (sp?!) along the
way but they will bend over forward and backward to Sun's
standards. As I always say SunSoft is a division of Microsoft that
gives ideas and innovations to Microsoft and sets the standards but
ends up giving the money and financial benefits to Sun! So again if
anything Microsoft will be 'one' of the reasons for further growth of
Sun! It is HP, DEC and IBM that are the real compettitors and are
going after Sun aggressively (the same as Pepsi, 7UP and Dr. Pepper
going after Coke)! Saying MSFT is competing with Sun, in my humble
opinion, is sort of saying that Burger King is competing with Coke; But
if anything Burger King can be the tool for further growth of Coke!
