>>The service is pretty bad at most of the CPU's that I've been to as well.<<

The same here. I have to do my homework before I shop at my local CompUSA. The level of sales knowledge stinks! Whenever a salesman asks "can I help you", I respond "I doubt it" and go on. They talk like experts to computer illiterates while giving them bad/wrong advice. They place items on sale that are not in stock and won't offer rain checks.

I emailed them a while back letting them know of the problems I encountered. I let them know that I had been considering buying their stock (battered down to 14 at the time), but based on the service I described I told them I could see why their stock was down and that I no longer considered it a value. They did respond to the email with a canned support of their sales force.

Their returns service is their good point. Very quick and no hassle.

I hate to say it, but I think they need to commission their sales force. I see no desire in their salespeople to close a sale. I have been there in the past willing to spend $500 and the salespeople didn't even make an effort to close the sale. I am sorry Computer City was bought out by them. Computer City did have knowledgeable salespeople.

I do however now consider CPU fairly valued up to the $10 level. Despite their bad service, they do seem to have good customer traffic. I still shop there when I know what I want.
