Victor- April should be good for CPQ and Dell:
(1) Rah-rah analyst/annual/customer meetings for both companies in next few weeks.. (2) Hardware companies just beginning to catch up to overall Naz, tech rally durint the last few days..Dell traditionally strong 2nd 6 weeks of quarter (earnings run)/weak first half...Dell's strength may help other PC makers... (3) "Fear game" over for PC companies, shorts covering in next few days... (4) Focus now on Q2....in all likelihood, should be better than Q1 for industry (5) Return of repatriated Japanese capital (end of fiscal year, March 31)..healthy bond, overall stock markets in U.S in April lack of issues (bonds) Fed. gvt. in April, big inflows (cash) helping support lower rates on 30year in April..helping all big- caps, big PE stocks... (6) Prediction: No Fed tightening, AND no change on the bias (7) Continuation of favoring of big, liquid caps over all other stocks...after some doubt in February, March.... (8) Compaq: DEC mostly integrated, Y-O-Y comparisons will look good over next couple quarters, Dell: Continued gaining strength in corporate sector, servers, storage...savings from IBM agreement, implementation of Web (cost savings)..possible COGS with renegotiated agreements.. (9) My prediction: Uptick in Y2K spending in Q2.. (10) Price cuts (just announced by Compaq) should help share, profits (more competitive)..
Looks like the bottom is in...April should be a good month...
(11) Yugo agreement....or, at least, worst (headline bombing) is over
