Regarding Jerry's letter to shareholders. A couple of things I'd like to point out:
At AMD, we define "winning" as gaining market share, and "success" as profitable growth. By these definitions, even though we are winning, we have not been consistently successful.
More Clintonisms. So by their own words, AMD can claim that they have been "winning." What a bunch of bull. If some guy punched me in the face, but in the process bruised his hand, can I say that I won the fight if I define "winning" as causing any sort of injury to the other guy, regardless of my own injuries?
Our "P3 Strategy"
Seems like Jerry so obsessed with the Pentium III brand name that he is willing to mimic it with names like "K6-III" and the "P3 strategy." I wonder if people from Intel's marketing department find this to be rather humorous.
We have commenced process integration wafer starts that will utilize copper interconnect technology resulting from this alliance, and we plan to qualify the process for production by the end of this year in order to generate revenues from Fab 30 in the first quarter of 2000.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the first fruits of the Dresden fab will be coming late this year, not early next year. Is this another "slip"?
Most importantly, how many people actually believe Jerry "We're winning, not succeeding" Sanders anymore? As usual, show me the money!
