Sorry, for mentioning your toghness on Russia. I was wrong.
As to vip:
Middle class is growing. How?
* First, rich are not making all those mega bucks they used to.
* Second, the lack of appropriate statistics makes it hard to judge on the income of Russians. I know people who make $10,000/mo but report -$500.
You are right that at the current price cell phones are not exactly a mass product, but one russian customer equals to 100 american customers, because of the price.($1000 for the phone itself, and much more for the service)
Again, I think the company is good. The climate in Russia is not. It is very hard to retrieve profits from the country. Taxes might stimulate the company to show losses. Again, president's health might become a factor.
The stock is speculative, and its value comes from those foreigners who believe in Russia. So if the news from Russia will be good the stock might go up. The company will always provide the good news, even if there are none.
By the way your point about competition is very true. I think that in the near future Vimpel will remain a monopoly on the cell phone market.
