<Funny how as the months pass, you become increasingly "Paulerized" in your posting style.>

Well, to tell you the truth, it's easy to be "Paulerized" when AMD's quixotic plans to topple the so-called 800-lb. gorilla go awry. Also, I have NEVER been a fan of word-weaseling that Bill Clinton is infamous for, and Jerry's quotes about "winning" vs. "succeeding" blatantly smacks of Clintonism.

But, to let you in on a little secret, I think some of Intel's top brass were making plans based on the possibility that AMD could indeed reach 1 GHz by early 2000.

Meanwhile, there are a lot of things that I could criticize about Intel itself, such as that blasted Merced delay. But as an employee, I feel compelled to keep my negative thoughts to myself, lest one of those anti-Intel Web sites out there takes my quote and blows it severely out of proportion.
