I just bought a Gateway Solo (2500) and after testing several different ISP's and talking to XIRCOM tech support, the most I was able to connect was 33,000. My desktop easliy (3COM) connects around 46,000. I have sent back the modem for a Telepath card (IE US ROBOTICS).
