March 30, 1999

DIRECTOR RESIGNS, DIRECTOR APPOINTED

Denver, CO - The Board of Ultra Petroleum Corp. announced today that
it has accepted the resignation of Marc Bruner from the Board of the
Company and all of the Company's subsidiaries, and that Michael
Watford has been appointed to the Board to fill the vacancy.

"As a shareholder of Ultra, I am satisfied that the company is in
good hands with Michael Watford in charge," said Bruner. "I have
some new opportunities I want to pursue."

"The Board wishes to publicly thank Marc Bruner," said John Hislop,
one of the outside directors. "His contributions as one of the
founding directors, as a deal maker and in the area of raising
capital have been critical to getting Ultra where it is today. We
wish him every success in his new ventures."

Ultra Petroleum Corp. (TSE: UP) is a natural gas exploration and
development company with U.S. headquarters in Denver, Colorado. The
Company is exploring and developing the natural gas potential of its
extensive lease holdings in the Green River Basin of southwest
Wyoming.
