I'm just a humble webgeek, but as I understand it, the intended signal was 'dirtied' by a variety of other sources, i.e. ambient freqs, crosstalk noise from the monitor guns, etc…

So, to isolate the end-user's voice resonating off the monitor screen (the transducer, in this case), an instruction set was server-pushed to the CPU to generate bias freq masks. Two years ago, however, CPU power couldn't keep pace for the necessary sampling rates in accordance with NyQuist's Thereom (which were needed for the bias tones, I guess).

Don't really know what became of it after that. I suppose a third-party such as FunPhone could have exploited the CPU advances since then to isolate and amplify a narrow channel bandwidth to make this thing work.

Might pick up a few FunPhone shares, just in case.
