Article I of the U.S. Soldiers Code: "I am an American Soldier. I serve in the forces that guard our country and protect our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense".

Does anyone else see the irony in the fact that millions of men and women are bound by law, by duty, and by honor to the above code and that they are being led by a man who doesn't even have a clue about what that code means?

For the last few years, the concepts of honor and duty have been increasingly considered as macho anachronisms by a lot of the people who supported Clinton but who now seem so concerned about Clinton's actions in regards to the military.

Where were they when Clinton decided to transform our military into some kind of political correctness lab experiment? Where were they when he was purging the ranks by the tens of thousand in order to rid our military of anyone who didn't fit the mold for his political agenda? Where were they when he five years in a row vetoed defense bills that would have created a national missile defense, kept the trained professionals in the ranks and insured that our troops had enough materials and equipment to do whatever they were called upon to do?

They were too busy whining about a vast right wing conspiracy and running off at the mouth about "It takes a village" and "It's the economy, stupid".

It's been an accepted inevitability to those of us in uniform that our most vociferous critics and ardent reformers would be the first to start squealing like stuck pigs if things starting looking a little threatening. The one saving grace for most of those political/military dilettantes is that they don't really have a clue just how dangerous things could get in the next few years. The damage done to our national security by Clinton by virtue of his collaborations with China and his attempts to create a military in his own image has been ignored as right wing propaganda by Clinton supporters up until now. Now those very same Clintonistas are going to start jumping on the bandwagon claiming that they told us so.

All I can say is that those who wouldn't or couldn't swear to the code at the top of this post, ought to be damned grateful to those who can and do.
