Rotating memory will always be much cheaper.

However at $0.50/mbyte you get around 50Mb for $25 in less than 2 years or so. Disk Drives in 2 yrs will be $15Gb or so in the $150 range.

For a whole lotta users and a whole lot of apps don't need much more localized space particluarly as centralized storage becomes dirt cheap via the web.
