Paint 'em different colors , but keep lowering the price while up-ping the horsepower .

Is this AAPL favoring article a reality distortion field ?

Yes . If a press article contains more than one AAPL positive spokesperson AND none of them are named Lou M , it qualifies as a RDF .

Future iMacs
(03/30/99, 9:25 p.m. ET)
By Malcolm Maclachlan and Lisa Picarille, TechWeb

The success of the iMac has left Apple
watchers wondering what will be the next
act for the Cupertino, Calif.-based computer
company.

And while Apple isn't talking about its plans, sources
close to the company say that a 300-MHz version of
the iMac will debut at Macworld Boston in August,
with a 333-MHz version soon after that.

Apple co-founder and interim CEO Steve Jobs has said
that Apple will improve on the basic features of the
iMac, such as adding more RAM and a larger hard
drive.

Sources said the next generation of the consumer
systems would also feature Apple's second-generation
Columbus motherboard, or C2, which uses the New
World II/"Open World" chip set with reduced 512k
hardware ROM
. Other enhancements would likely
include UltraDMA drive buses, as well as features
making the computers easier to upgrade, sources said.

Price is also likely to come down. The low-end
233-MHz iMac will go for $899, according to reports.
The basic model of the current iMac at the Apple online
store runs $1,199 for a 266-MHz. model.
