I'm pissed at E*Trade too. I tried to participate in the IPO and actually went to Priceline to find out how to be a customer over there so I could be part of the "affinity" program between Priceline and E*Trade. After I couldn't find any way to register as a customer or even a potential customer at Priceline, I decided to try a bid for a hotel room in Miami for a weekend in July. I got the hotel room and even got the second night free. So I'm not disappointed in Priceline.
However, I went back to E*Trade and watched religiously for their IOI. What a sham? It opened and closed before I got back from the bathroom!!
So, I decided to call my broker at Merrill Lynch, which I had read in the prospectus was also underwriting the IPO. Guess what...I got 50 shares. Not very many, and I wanted a lot more, but at least something! I am very disappointed in E*Trade and their web page is pretty blase too. I think I'm going to look for another on-line broker pretty soon because these clowns don't know how to attract and retain customers. Their only redeeming quality is cheap trades and based on what my expensive full-time broker did for me I am beginning to believe the "you get what you pay for" slogan!!!
