If "this lack of alphanumeric as the first character in the symbol is causing the problem.", then translating in OUTPUT\DEFAULT.XLT should solve it. Mine shows !DJ-30,DJ-30 : making a comma sep list of all those you want to export should do the trick. Makes most sense to match the MS CD symbols.
This info should be in the manual or on-line help.
