OT* Bell Atlantic cuts price of DSL connection

RESTON, Va., March 31 (Reuters) - Bell Atlantic Corp. said Wednesday that it reduced the price of its entry-level package for digital subscriber line (DSL) service, a high-speed connection for voice, data and video, by $10, to $49.95 a month.

That price will cover unlimited use and Internet access at connection speeds up to 640 kilobits per second, Bell Atlantic said.

The company is also cutting by $10 the price of its professional DSL package, to $99.95 a month. The package allows speeds of up to 1.6 megabits per second.

Its premium DSL package will continue to cost $189.95 a month for speeds up to 7.1 megabits per second.

Bell Atlantic's basic DSL package is currently available in parts of the Washington D.C., Pittsburgh and Philadelphia metropolitan areas, and the Hudson River waterfront communities of New Jersey.

The company plans to offer the service in New York City and Boston beginning this spring.
