Leading Japanese Software Developer Selects Unify VISION to Develop Next-Generation Web-Enabled ERP System SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 31, 1999--
Miroku Information Services, Ltd. Develops With Unify VISION(R)
AppServer and AppBuilder to Create Web-Based E-commerce Solutions
Today Unify Corporation (Nasdaq:UNFY), a leading provider of Internet application server solutions for e-commerce, announced that Miroku Information Services, Ltd., a leading Japanese application developer, will develop its new Management Intelligence Core System for Networks (MICSNET) Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system with Unify VISION AppServer and AppBuilder.
The deployment of this system will be a key component to Miroku's future growth.
Miroku will target the Microsoft (Nasdaq:MSFT) Windows NT platform by using Unify VISION AppServer and Unify VISION AppBuilder to create three MICSNET modules: Finance, Payroll and Sales Management. Sales Management will be the first module developed by Miroku.
"Unify VISION is a highly efficient platform for the development of web-enabled e-business solutions," said Yoshihito Sakurai, general manager of Development at Miroku. "By using Unify VISION AppBuilder's built-in Java and HTML support, we can develop once seamlessly for web-based e-commerce solutions, and we can do this without Java programming. Our least-experienced programmers can become productive very quickly because the development interface is easily learned. And, with Unify VISION AppServer, MICSNET is independent of both customer operating systems and back-end databases, giving the product unequaled compatibility and upgrade advantages."
"Miroku has risen to a leading position among Japanese software developers because its business strategy emphasizes compatibility, flexibility, and customization for its customers' differing needs," noted Manabu Hori, president of Unify Japan. "Unify VISION is the ideal platform for implementing this strategy since it supports a three-tiered architecture emphasizing operating system independence, database compatibility, and scalability."
Prior to adopting Unify VISION, Miroku had developed many MICSNET ERP modules with Visual C development tools. However, such low-level development languages are at a disadvantage with increasing customer need for customization of program details to implement each company's own sales process and customer management needs.
Unify VISION AppServer's functionality and ease of use leverages Miroku's legacy ERP applications, while ensuring upward-compatibility for future MICSNET versions, to maximize existing resources and enable connectivity to the Internet via a web browser.
Many Japanese CPA firms and corporate accounting departments are in the process of upgrading from older ERP systems to achieve Y2K compliance which gives Miroku an extra incentive to test and release the next-generation MICSNET system quickly.
Unify VISION AppBuilder's object features, such as class inheritance, enables programmers to learn the system quickly and modify and reuse software modules more easily, which significantly shortens development time.
