I believe that the best software that I have ever tried is the one developed by Quantum Analysis Systems (http://www.itsnet.com/~quantum). They used to have a site for people to download a 30-day demo version of it.

In addition, I found that the same company also sells stock market reports generated by this piece of software. It would be a good idea to take a look at their sample reports which identify hottest rolling stocks in the week.
