This is the more accurate analogy. Remember back in 1991 or 1992, Chips & Tech (ESS), thought they were all going to get rich because C&T (ESS) was going to come out with a "better" 386 (CL48x) that costs much less than Intel's (C-Cube) with added performance. They were certain they were going to bring Andy and co.(Alex and co.) to their knees, and enjoy as they begged and pleaded for mercy. Unfortunately Intel (C-Cube) came out with the 486 (DVD), and they were left to battle not only Intel (C-Cube) but also AMD (Oak and others) with their own 386 (CL48x) clone.. Fortunately for Intel (C-Cube) and AMD (some others - maybe), they had other very profitable products to add to the bottom line.... Today C&T (ESS) is niche LCD graphics player... and the AMD's & Cyrix's are still trying to beat Intel (C-Cube)... Guess who had the smaller die ??? Go ahead guess...
