This is typical Kodak mentality: Professional quality pictures should be reserved for professionals. The common people should be satisfied with less than professional quality, unless they seek professional services. The big market, to Kodak marketing types, is still the photofinishing store, where you buy your film, go back for developing and printing, and get reprints and enlargements. The thought that someone might want to do all of this with a high resolution digital camera, and print out the results through his computer and printer, with as good or better quality than obtainable from a photofinisher, is, well, just foreign to them.
