AMKR situation has not changed since its stock slipped from 12 to the current 7-8 range except that they were able to save $25 million for the purchase of Anam/K4. Everything was published in its previous financial reports including the ASI association. The critical thing is how people perceive on the future of the semiconductor industry.

Dataquest just reported that semiconductor business did worse in 1998 than previously thought (http://204.247.196.31/). However, Dataquest also predicts in another report (http://www.sumnet.com/enews/) that DRAM business will grow 60% every year on average in the next three years until it peaks at $60 billion in 2001 from $15 billion in 1998.

AMKR will gain tremendously in the process because of its more advanced high-margin packaging/testing capacity in uBGA and other technologies for high-margin products such as DRDRAM and cell phone chips.

When East Asia and Korea/Japan emerge from the economical crisis, as it will certainly happen and is happening, like the Sun is coming from the East, AMKR will appear as a new company with much enhanced capacity and $3-4 billion revenue with a solid financial sheet.
