Here's some news! Waverider Introduces First of Its Last Mile Solution Products Waverider Introduces First of Its Last Mile Solution Products -- LMS170 Provides Low Cost Wireless End User Modem TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 31, 1999--WaveRider Communicat(OTC BB:WAVC) WaveRider Communications Inc., a leading global provider of wireless Internet products, has introduced the LMS170, the first of WaveRider's LMS (Last Mile Solution®) 270 Network family of products.
The LMS170 provides wireless, point-to-point connectivity between two PCs using a high speed radio link. The wireless link is designed to operate in the 902 to 928MHz frequency band, which does not require line of sight. The LMS170 can be deployed quickly to deliver data throughput speeds equivalent to ISDN modem speeds. The product is currently undergoing lab tests and customer trials are expected in Q2/99.
''This product is ideal for international applications where the 902 to 928MHz frequency band is available and high speed Internet connections are limited,'' says WaveRider's vice president, Marketing Charles Brown. ''The LMS170 allows users in selected international markets to obtain high speed, cost-effective access to the Internet. In many markets that lack a telecommunications infrastructure, high speed Internet connectivity is often expensive to deploy. Our product offers ISDN speeds with no monthly telecom fees.''
WaveRider's LMS170 represents the first step in the roll out of the company's LMS270 wireless Internet network. The LMS270 Network is designed to provide last mile connectivity between small business, SOHO and residential users and the Internet. The network, with architecture similar to cellular networks, operates in the 900 to 928MHz frequency band, which does not require line of sight. WaveRider's LMS and NCL product families provide inexpensive, high speed, robust alternatives to traditional hard-wired Internet connectivity solutions.
