Here's some news!

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 31, 1999--ALYA International, Inc. (OTC
BB:ALYA) has opened a Sales and Technical office in Beijing, China.

The announcement was made by ALYA's President Doug Corbett at the China LonMark Conference
held in Beijing on March 18-19, 1999 during a one-hour address to approximately 200 Chinese industry
and government officials. The Ministry of Construction, who had formed the China LonMark Promotional
Association late last year, sponsored the conference.

This office will be operated by ALYA's newly appointed "Director of Business Development-Asia," Mr.
Jianrong (Jerome) Ma. Ma was most recently the Manager of Marketing for Motorola (China)
Electronics Ltd. As the first employee of Motorola's WorldWide Smart Card Division in China, Ma
played a major role in opening their office in Beijing and in organizing Motorola's joint venture, the
"Huamin SmartCard Systems Co." Jerome helped Motorola win the right to formally co-sponsor a
national event with the Chinese Central Government that included 5 ministers, 45 department directors
and 200 government officials and profiled the Motorola SmartCard Division.

During the recent visit to China, Mr. Jaro Bucko, ALYA's Vice President of Technology, and Corbett
met with senior Government officials from the Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Information, Ministry
of Public Security, and the State Planning Committee and with industry and military representatives.

Lawrence Chan, Vice President of Echelon Corporation said, "Echelon has been introducing LonWorks
technology throughout Asia. ALYA's security system which conforms to the LonWorks standards can
play an instrumental roll in providing intelligent and energy efficient buildings, which of course is the
main message of the Echelon Corporation. We strongly believe ALYA's penetration into the Chinese
market is significant to their future."

Interest in Asia for LonWorks has been intense, as confirmed by Echelon's news of a major agreement
in Japan. Echelon announced on March 18, 1999 that Obayashi Corporation would become a major
installer of open network control systems based on Echelon's LonPoint(R) System hardware and
software products. With revenues of over $12 billion, Obayashi is one of the world's largest general
contractors. (ELON news: biz.yahoo.com

thousands of application developers and millions of devices installed worldwide, the LonWorks system
