Matsushita Unit to Focus on Digital Circuitry 03/31/99 Comline Electronics Comline News Service (Copyright 1999) Matsushita Electronics Industry, a subsidiary of Matsushita Electric Industrial {6752} manufacturing semiconductors and other products, will become its group's specialist in highly integrated circuitry devices. The Matsushita Group is working towards mass production of DVD and digital television technology and will consolidate its memory and microcomputer businesses in the subsidiary's new "system LSI" division, which takes form April 1. The entity will specialize in the circuitry for digital home electronics. In tandem with its new function, Matsushita Electronics is pulling out of manufacture of ordinary DRAM, an area that has slumped recently.
