Ron,

In the past, several heavy investors told me that they thought "Pfizer money" had a lot to do with Vivus stock price getting crushed via market manipulation. There is one poster here who in his typical smug and smitten style has always claimed that this can not be the case. I ask that you read the 1998 10k and in particular note the part under the heading entitled "Patent and Proprietary Rights":

"The Company was also the first to file a Notice of Opposition to Pfizer's European patent application claiming the use of phosphodiesterase inhibitors to treat erectile dysfunction. Numerous other companies have also opposed the patent, and the Company will support these other entities in their opposition as necessary."

As I am sure most of the long time Vivus longs here know, Bear Stearns is a brokerage heavily invested in Pfizer and heavily shorted Vivus back last July preventing the stock from gaining any upward momentum. This is but one small example of how IMHO Vivus has been manipulated. Bear Stearns helps protect their financial interests in Pfizer by crushing a small biotech company that stepped on the 800 pound gorilla's toes.
