Silicon Graphics will demonstrate its state-of-the-art Storage Area Network (SAN) to deliver partner applications running on its development platform. Silicon Graphics is the first server vendor to deliver robust SANs for the digital media market. Silicon Graphics platform-based SANs are currently in use in post-production environments, and the new technology demonstrations at NAB will show how the company is moving SAN technology into the broadcast market.

Silicon Graphics also will demonstrate a high-performance solution for multichannel, multiformat video serving using Video Server Toolkit (VST) running on an Origin(TM) server. VST is a robust developer middleware product that is the heart of many of Silicon Graphics' broadcast solutions developed in conjunction with partners Panasonic and Channelmatic Inc., among others. By combining VST with other server-based solutions such as Panasonic DNA, users are able to distribute and view video with ease. VST represents a unified approach between Silicon Graphics Origin servers and other digital media components.

P.S. - It's a good thing too, given their financial doldrum, preannouncing a .20 - .25 cent greater loss than anticipated:
