Hello, Don - to my own puzzlement, I ve no idea why I am so work up on SGI <G>, since I ve no position in it, its suppliers or its competitors, no that matters, but one last post before I bid goodbye to ye all gentle folks. Regarding SGI's burning analysts, I do agree with you, Don, that it would take an analyst of iron guts and steel nerves to plug for a dog - and not just any dog, but one with a long history of poor guidance. Having said that, Mr Nile has garnered quite a reputation in the semi sector, and not having his research note, it is hard to say if he has enough backbones to stand by his recommendation [if indeed he did reiterate a buy on SGI] or if he has enough humility to admit he too was deceived by the guidance and decide to throw in the towel.

Personally, I think SGI is really fighting a shrinking market - well, the market may not be shrinking, but the PC box makers simply scale up with off the shelf INTC chips. So I guess it is more an encounchment. OTOH, SGI and Cray still have a lot of values in their softwares, if nothing else, merger is really a way to go

best, Bosco
