Crashed F-117A will raise defense costs by billions
Foreign stealth designs may be very different, and not benefit much. Countermeasures to the F-117A will be much easier to develop however, as the crashed plane was intact enough to use as a target.
So aerospace manufacturers are faced with developing new stealth planes and CCM, while the current JSF and F-22 projects are still not mature.
<Re: the cost of the plane and training of the pilot....has there been any
comment on the fact that stealth technology is now in enemy hands? Was this not our last "secret," a big reason we were able to do what we did in the Gulf War? What will happen when our enemies have gotten their hands on the stealth, with our defense research in a straightjacket?>
