1.) Belatedly accept some version of the Russian initiative, stop bombing, start talking again;
2.) Lift the sanctions, follow Ritter's advice. We will not go to war over Iraq any time soon, so we need to build credibility for a diplomatic initiative... Which at this point will take time....
