I think that this is just simple profit taking.
Here is my reasoning: The high for Intel was $165. Subtract 10
percent and you get $148.50. If you subtract 15 percent you get
$140.25. So, this not out of the ordinary. Let's put it in
perspective. Now, if it goes below $140 then that's a worry and
perhaps you should sell.

Other matters. The Cyrix "threat" is no threat at all. It's aimed
at the low-end business only and the proice difference isn't that
large. What about the "threat" from AMD? Jeff Jackson writes:

"AMD is announcing production of its K6 chip, which is supposedly
faster and more power efficient than the Pentium Pro, while selling
at a 25% discount. This *may* have an impact on Intel's so-far
tremendous earnings, thus inspiring a short-term selloff."

Question: Can you buy their Pentium Pro replacement NOW?

NO!

In addition, look how much lead time Intel has had. Just consider.
All their competitors had to do was to meet their engineering
specs. That's all. Just look at Intel's lead!

Yes, its true that Intel has gone up quickly and so some profit
taking is to be expected. But I don't see why any of the above
should lead to a major decline.
