The judge's decision isn't good news for Microsoft, since he seems to be putting the most pressure on them. Remember, Microsoft has been emphasizing all along that Boise was merely engaging in "courtroom theatrics". If they really believe that, it could be shocking to discover that those "theatrics" have managed to wreck the factual grounds on which they must build a case. In other trial news the guy who's been called "the Senator from Microsoft" came out swinging: Gorton slams Microsoft trial judge during visit to Redmond campus seattletimes.com "You have a second- or third-rate judge," Gorton said. "I don't know how optimistic I am about Microsoft winning at the district level." [And Gorton is a Republican blasting a Reagan appointee. Whew.] As for the settlement talks Microsoft and the federal government began Tuesday, Gorton doesn't believe they'll pan out. "I'm not optimistic about a settlement," Gorton said.
