>Well, we'd have had no delivery problems if no-one really wanted the >machines, so your assertion is rather strange. ;).
Alexis, you know that, SGI couldn't even get enough demo machines out last quarter. Thus the delivery problems had nothing to do with the demand. In fact the demand has dropped significantly and they are tons of cancellations on 320s, and that is why SGI is managing to catch up with the backlogs. After all, these machines were supposed to be out last November.
Everybody that I know, is waiting for either 540s to come out, or have lost patience and moved to another platform. The delivery of 540s are postponed til' the end of May. I suspect nobody is going to see one until the end of the fiscal year, thus effecting the bottom-line significantly in the next quarter as well.
I don't mean to rub your nose in this, but back in January and February, you and Ellis were the ones claiming that SGI will be able to capture most of the NT market and bashing anyone who would say otherwise!! On the other hand, I (and few others) were the skeptical ones and were warning everyone about SGI's habit of goofing off on marketing and delivery.
Having said all of that, with all the fairness, I must say that the 320 loaner that I have recently got, so far is very stable and quite impressing. However, as far as I can see, this is the "O2 situation" being repeated all over again. No matter how wonderful the machines are, SGI is doomed if the company can not deliver the message, and more importantly the machines!!
Anticipate some significant changes in the high level management, specially in the Marketing and even maybe in the Production Line.
